Innovations, trends and design - from 24 to 28 August 2012, the most important international consumer-goods fair in the second half of the year presents the latest trends for the coming autumn, winter and Christmas seasons. At the fair, exhibitors, trade visitors and designers from all over the world can gain inspiration for five days, and order products, especially for the fast-approaching Christmas business. They can also obtain an initial preview of the next year's spring and summer collections.

Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente / Tendence, is delighted with the positive response up to March: “80 percent of the exhibition space is already booked up with registrations having been received from exhibitors such as Blomus, Boltze, Drescher, Eichholtz, Gilde Handwerk/Macrander Gruppe, Kare and Scholtissek, not to mention Alessi, Koziol and Menue A/S in the tableware section.

With 2,063 exhibitors from 67 countries and more than 52,000 trade visitors, last year's Tendence occupied the entire western section of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre with 130,000 square metres of exhibition space (gross) in nine halls [Figures FKM certified]. As the international order platform for consumer goods, this year's Tendence will also occupy nine modern exhibition halls with product groups arranged perfectly to meet the needs of trade visitors. New products for the home and table will be on show in the Living section, e.g., emotional, exclusive and stylish products for the household in Halls 8.0, 9.0, 10.2 and 11.0. Creative ideas for gifts, trendy lifestyle products and high-grade jewellery are to be found in Halls 9.1, 9.2, 9.3, 10.1 and 11.1.

Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology supports young, innovative companies

In the Giving section, Tendence offers a marketing platform for young and creative German companies, which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie - BMWi). Companies with max. 50 employees, which have been on the market for less than ten years, have the opportunity to present their products in the international setting of the Gifts Unlimited product segment in Hall 9.2.

Glass, porcelain and ceramic retailers - targeted support for supplementary assortments

Although the Dining segment has not been an independent section since 2009, Tendence is still extremely important for glass, porcelain and ceramic retailers in terms of sales channels because supplementary assortments are gaining in significance in the classic retail trade, especially in the tableware and kitchen segments. No matter whether the focus is on lifestyle or giving, consumers judge the retail trade by the variety of products on offer. Thus, to support the glass, porcelain and ceramic trade, an event offering unequivocal benefits for this group of buyers will be held at Tendence. Further details will be announced soon.

Tendence as a launching pad for careers - Talents and Next

This year sees the eleventh edition of the ‘Talents’ promotional programme and there will be a special exhibition in Hall 11.0 designed by Petra Strickstrock / Raumansicht to celebrate this.

The ‘Talents’ programme for young people is of particular benefit to young designers and newcomers to the fields of product, furniture design and jewellery design. At Tendence 2012, the consumer-goods highlight in the second half of the year, young designers have the opportunity to show examples of their work to an international audience of trade visitors, and to test and discuss their ideas, drafts and prototypes with potential manufacturers - a perfect chance to build up a network for their professional future. Design students, university graduates, young designers and design studios are invited to submit their projects, prototypes and initial small product series by 2 April. Projects in the field of interior design will be exhibited in Hall 11.0 and jewellery in Hall 9.3.

With ‘Next’, Tendence helps trend-oriented start-up companies gain a foothold in the market. Young companies with a design background, which have been able to gather initial business experience, have until 4 May to apply for an exhibition stand in the ‘Next’ promotional area. “Helping young international designers has been a component part of the Tendence concept for many years and is very popular with visitors”, explains Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente / Tendence. For the first time, creations from the Young & Trendy segment will be presented in Hall 11.1. Products from the Loft segment will be on show in Hall 11.0 and from Carat in Hall 9.3.

Inspiration and communication

With exhibitions, awards ceremonies, communication areas and individually designed cafes and lounges, Tendence not only gives the consumer-goods industry the chance to focus on subjects of topical interest and but also provides the room needed for successful discussions, exchanging information and networking.
