First-class design and a successfully interwoven mix of innovative brand and product presentations in an interdisciplinary arrangement - that's what the imm cologne's Pure Village exhibition stands for. Next year it will be the meeting point for more than 50 interior design brands. Firms like Thonet, Gandia Blasco, Mocoba or E15 will rub shoulders with bathroom furnishers like Kaldewei, Burgbad and Grohe, textile brands like Creation Baumann, floor specialists like Parador and Carpet Concept and home entertainment pioneers like Loewe. Inspiration is guaranteed - en masse!

With Pure Village, imm cologne art director Dick Spierenburg has created a place for design and interior visions. Pure Village is different because, instead of unfurling a multitude of huge brand worlds hidden behind high walls, it presents the best ideas and visions from both big names and smaller labels in the intimacy of a village-like setting. “Our aim is to convey lots of impressions, lots of different approaches, lots of discussions and lots of juxtapositions between various areas of the home as well as between different products and thus generate a suspenseful atmosphere for visitors,” says the art director of his concept.

But it's not just established design that's part of the concept. [D3] Design talents, the imm cologne's event for young designers, has meanwhile been very successfully integrated into Pure Village as well. It provides a forum where young creative talents can present their innovations and inspiring ideas for design and materials, which are often absolutely visionary and sometimes even provocative. In previous years, the imm cologne has been the decisive career springboard for many a [D3] Design talents participant: the chances of being discovered by renowned manufacturers couldn’t be better. This year the [D3] Contest, which is open to all young designers, received 689 entries. 28 products by 32 hitherto unknown designers made it into the exhibition. The newcomer contest is flanked by [D3] Professionals, where the interior design fair gives established designers and design studios the chance to present their ideas to a broad audience so as to generate further contacts with manufacturers and dealers.

Needless to say, the imm cologne would not have its excellent reputation as a creative interior design fair if Pure Village didn’t have something totally new to offer as well. In 2012, Hall 3.2 will be the venue for a new and spectacular design project: “Das Haus - Interiors on Stage”. “Das Haus” shows a structure created entirely in accordance with the guest designer's ideas - architectural elements, interior and outdoor spaces - as well as arrangements of furniture and accessories for an individually configured interior design. Next year London-based duo Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien will be responsible for the design. The young team is known for its original designs for major players like Moroso, Authentics or Cappellini.
