The young design talents Nude Show, has already configured its exhibitions showcase for its 14th. edition, due to take place from 1 to 5 February next, in the framework of Feria Hábitat Valencia. The jury in charge comprised by businessman José Albargues (Missana), and designers Ximo Roca, Gelo Álvarez and Luis Calabuig and Gracia Cardona, President of ADI FAD identified last November 17th the twenty creators and design studios that, by their own merits, will participate in this show.

Nine design schools and Universities will add to them, thus increasing up to a 10% the participation in the Nude Show, if compared to its last edition.

During the selection process, the jury highlighted the new designers commitment to integrate new materials, uses and applications in the Habitat spaces, in order to enhance the user experience. In this connection, the innovative combination of materials such as wood and concrete stand out as one of the distinguishing features of the designers selected.

The group of designers and studios participating in Nude 2016 originate from throughout the country, and specially from Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, Bilbao, San Sebastián, Murcia and Alicante -and even from Paraguay- and, listed in alphabetical order, are: Achodoso, Calamina, Cardeoli, Elena Martínez and Carlos Tur, Estudio Apu’a, Estudio Javier Sebastián, Estudio Pablo Maestre, Iron & Wood, Jaume Molina, Jonay, Momocca Deco&Design, Octavio Asensio Estudio, Ominivoros, R que R, Silvia Ceñal Design Studio, Tabuhome, Talco and Testa Studio.

Standing beside them, Nude 2016 will also be a showcase for the main universities and design schools of our country, some of which participate for the first time in this event, such as Barreira Arte y Diseño, la Escola d’Art i Superior de Ceràmica de Manises and the Escuela de Arte y Superior de Diseño de Alicante.

Moreover the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Universitat Jaume I de Castellón, the Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de Valencia, the Universidad Cardenal Herrera CEU San Pablo de Valencia and EINA, Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art de Barcelona will be present once again.

A prestigious Jury

For the selection process, the new Nude Show has a roster of top renowned professionals closely linked to the field of design. This is the case for the ADI FAD's president , Gracia Cardona. She holds a university degree in Law and Economics and Business Science by the University of Barcelona. She worked for different multinational companies until year 2000, when she moves to London to begin her design studies. Back to Barcelona, she studies Interior Design at Eina and rejoins the labour market as the Head of Corporate Marketing and Communication in a Lighting Company. She is the co-founder in 2009 of diario DESIGN, a design and architecture online magazine, where she is currently the director.

On the other hand, José Albargues, is the soul and spirit of the company Missana. His involvement in everything related to the manufacturing process and his observational nature, allowed him to be adapted to the new times and progressively integrate young professionals into the company. For those young professionals, he is the guide and advisor, teaching them, in a learning by doing process, how to provide the final products with Missana's uniqueness seal. For all these reasons, Pepe is a dedicated person who, as a result of his particular way of seeing the world, remains the backbone of the workshop, the link that ensures its smooth operation, and the one who continually strives to make the impossible happen.

Gelo Álvarez, studied design at the Arte4_Diseño de Interiores School of Madrid, present College of Art and Design and has a background in Law by the Complutense University of Madrid, and in business administration at the EOI Escuela de Organización Industrial and in IED, Instituto Europeo de Design. He founded the Lanea studio in year 2000 and recently the Oopen design studio. He has carried out design projects in all of the sector fields: shops, offices, restaurants, hotels, schools, exhibitions spaces and, of course, homes, developping a special empathy and close contact with customers and users. Since 2010, his relationship with DIMAD keeps on growing and he is at present vicepresident of the association as well as secretary of the Fundación Diseño Madrid (Madrid Design Foundation). He was the president of READ (Red Española de Asociaciones de Diseño (Spanish Design Associations Network), to which DIMAD belongs, until March 2015).

Concerning designer Ximo Roca, his work is marked by an initial immersion in the business reality of his customers and understanding their targeterd market. He analyzes their production systems, capacity and economic potential... this helps him to provide a realistic, targeted and specific design to each customer. A direct dialogue with the company is a must for him to interpret the market needs and to adjust his proposal, thus determining the exposure level of each project. The design will have to respond to the market, not the opposite.

And finally, Luis Calabuig, holds a degree in Industrial Design Engineering. In 2005 together with Ana Segovia and María Mengual he founded Odosdesign. Afterwards, he completed his studies with a Master degree in Design Engineering by the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and he is presently developing his Doctoral Thesis project. Odosdesign is a product design and communication agency with an international presence, and my work is focused in the generation of new products, brand identity building and market strategies.

Core topic of ‘Area D’ and of the ‘See you in Valencia 2016’ Agenda

Luis Calabuig is also actively involved in Feria Hábitat Valencia, for the launching of the ‘Area D’ initiative, a new space within the exhibition contents of Habitat, that brings together the contents and commercial proposals of the best national and international design brands. The Nude Show will be placed in this new exhibition area, thus reinforcing the uniqueness of the space and its commitment with the most innovative contents of the next Feria Hábitat Valencia event.

Furthermore, different activities such as conferences and meetings are going to be held in connection with the Nude Show, as part of the global agenda “See you in Valencia 2016”, the initiative that, back over three years, brings together in the same dates and in the same place leader trade fairs such as Cevisama and the new shows of Espacio Cocina, Feria Hábitat Valencia and Fimma - Maderalia. The appointment: between 1st. and 5th. of February 2016.
