With more than 70% of visitors coming from abroad, interzum is a trade show that combines a strongly international feel with a unique breadth and depth of offerings. In order to make it easier for visitors - and particularly foreign guests - to navigate the exhibition, Koelnmesse has developed the “Follow the red line” concept.

This “red line” runs through the entire exhibition site, enabling visitors to view all exhibition segments and special areas in a systematic way: ideal for a compact and comprehensive overview of the industry.

With 155,000 square metres of exhibition space in ten halls and around 1,500 exhibitors, interzum statistics are impressive even before the show has begun. With more than 70% of companies coming from abroad, interzum is also particularly international in nature, and is once again proving that its reputation as the world's biggest trade show for the furniture supplier and interior design industries is entirely justified. Over 52,000 visitors from more than 130 countries are expected to attend. For foreign and first-time visitors in particular, Koelnmesse has developed the “Follow the red line” guided route, the idea and name of which come from the striking interzum logo.

The red line marks a guided systematic route that begins at the three entrances and takes visitors along the boulevard and into each of the halls. The route therefore automatically takes visitors to the key areas of the exhibition. Alongside the three product segments of Material + Nature, Function + Components and Textile + Machinery, there are of course four different piazzas, which form central meeting points. These offer interested visitors an exciting, more in-depth view of various themed areas: For example, the “innovation of interior” piazza displays trends for designers, architects and project developers, whilst the Materials + Nature piazza presents the diversity of design options for surfaces using a truly “sensual” concept. In the Textile + Machinery segment, the piazza of the same name will offer an expert workshop on the subject of “Upholstery & Bedding” and the textile production line will show products and machines concentrated together in one demonstration area for the first time.

The programme for the special areas alone shows just how ambitious the interzum concept is. The “Follow the red line” guide enables the visitor to cover all key themes via a systematic route and thus to get an optimum overview of the exhibitors’ innovations.

This year, to coincide with interzum, the interdisciplinary conference fair InnoMateria will take place in hall 11.2. Besides lightweight and other material-focused key themes in contemporary mobility, the exploitation, storage and transformation of energy along with sustainable energy supply and use are further aspects of the programme. The materials themes in interiors and design are also new. With the trade congress and accompanying exhibition, InnoMateria has become an interdisciplinary communications platform for innovative materials. The two event days, running in parallel to interzum on 14 and 15 May 2013, will provide the setting for inter-industry dialogue in one location.

The next interzum will take place from:
13th - 16th May 2013
Cologne, Germany
