Dubai WoodShow 2012. The door to access the Gulf Markets

The next show on the wood circuit in the Middle East, organised by Strategic Marketing, will be the Dubai WoodShow 3-5 April. Limited exhibition space is available for companies and organisations wishing to access the Gulf markets.

Specialized trade visitors who are knowledgeable professionals and serious business buyers from all over the world will use the region's leading trade fair as an opportunity to strengthen ties with new customers, make valuable new contacts and catch up on the latest trends and technological developments.

2012 Exhibitors

Around 100 exhibitors have now confirmed space for the show in April, including the largest group from the USA under the umbrella of the American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) with 18 hardwood exporting companies. Exporters from French Timber and a substantial group from Canada, including Quebec Wood Export Group and Canada Wood Products, will also be exhibiting. The Malaysian Timber Council will be represented by its local Dubai office. In the machinery sector Dieffenbacher GmbH from Germany will exhibit as well as MNAF3 Alkhaleej, the regional distributor for SCM Group . From Austria the printed decor paper manufacturer Schattdecor serving the panel industry. To 26 organisations from China are booked to exhibit. There will be a many wood industries businesses from the UAE and Gulf participating.

Proposed Conference:

The accompanying conference topic proposed is Timber Legality and the impact on the market specially in the Middle East and GCC. The speakers will be from EU Timber Trade Federation who will talk about EU FLEGT, World Research Institute USA regarding US Lacey Act, Indonesia Ministry of Forestry for its Timber Legality Assurance and Certification and also from AHEC. It is hoped that the keynote speaker will be Indonesia's Minister of Forestry.

2011 Highlights

In last year's show there were participants from over 30 countries, with six country pavilions from Canada, China, France, Germany, Malaysia & United States of America, which was the highest number of wood products exhibitors to date. Specialized trade visitors interacted with exhibitors buying wood, products and machinery. It was reported that sales contracts worth millions of dollars were concluded during the show with the opportunity to close more deals thereafter. The show was supported by Eumabois (European Federation of Woodworking Machinery Manufacturers), ACIMALL (Italian Woodworking Association), LUNJIAO (Chinese Woodworking Association), CNFMA (China National Forest Machinery Association), AHEC (American Hardwood Export Council), American Softwoods, QWEB (Quebec Wood Export Bureau), French Timber, Qingdao Woodworking Machinery Association, APID (Association of Professional Interior Designers), ATIBT (Association Technique Des Bois Tropicaux), VDMA, AHK (German Emarati Bureau for trade and industry), TWMA (Taiwan Woodworking Machinery Association), MTC (Malaysian Timber Council) & EWPA (Engineered Wood Products Association).
