Ambiente 2018: Experts in trends students from FONTYS University will participate for the seventh consecutive time

How do social mega-trends translate into the latest collections and products for the coming season? As in previous years, this question will be explored by a group of young Dutch trend experts again. Students from the Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Tilburg, Netherlands, will be scouting for the latest trends in the areas of Loft and Table Contemporary Design in Halls 4.0 and 11.0. They will then present their findings to Ambiente visitors on guided tours. The students are approaching the project with great enthusiasm.

“This programme at Ambiente is an excellent experience for us. We get great insights into the way people work and we can share our knowledge with the visitors and exhibitors. In addition, our presentation will showcase our vision of future consumer trends and show the relevance of our profession to an international public,” says Joost Stegeman who organises the Trendwatcher Group for the university in 2018.

The tours are held from Saturday until Tuesday at 12:30 hrs and 16:00 hrs in Hall 4.0 and at 14:00 hrs and 16:00 hrs in Hall 11.0. In individual cases the students will also offer separate, exclusive tours. Larger groups of interested visitors can book tours in advance, by email, at ambientetrends@gmail.com. In addition, the Trendwatchers will present their findings on their stands in the foyers of Halls 4.0 and 11.0 as well as online, in their Trendwatchers’ blog.

The Fontys University of Applied Sciences has around 40,000 students and is one of the biggest higher education establishments in the Netherlands. It is one of the few universities throughout the world where students can take a module in Trendwatching as part of a degree course in International Lifestyle Studies.
