Paper lamp by cuban designer René Barba explores a new material for Ligne Roset : non-woven fabric. Not just any old fabric, of course: a special non-woven fabric which is tear-proof and classed M1 (non-inflammable).

This non-woven fabric is made up in a kind of double-sided envelope, with one printed and one white face - this covers the entire structure and also the black lacquered steel base. This shade in non-woven fabric, light as a feather, gives off a muted light to create a calming atmosphere. With its attractive curves, the delicate nature of its irregular hand-drawn style (vertical stripes in the case of the small version and squares in the case of the large version) is the source of its charm.

This kind of graphic effect, currently very fashionable, echoes the strong trend for textured, geometric motifs on flat surfaces in both architecture and interior decoration: this is a similar ‘hand- drawn’ approach to that adopted by Inga Sempé for Tratti, her new collection of tiles for the Italian firm Mutina.

Table lamps with satin black lacquered steel structure and non- woven shade in 70 % polyester / 30 % polyamide: this is fire retardant (fireproofed by impregnation, class M1), with imprinted front face and white rear. The large version is printed with a square motif; the small version has vertical stripes. 7W E 27 LED bulb, color temperature 2700 K (warm white).
