Since 2005, Lightyears has been introducing contemporary lamps designed by contemporary designers. Over the years, more than 125 different lamp designs have been produced. Along with the ability to create functional lamps, there also follows a certain kind of obligation. A commitment, combined with a desire to pursue a beautiful design heritage, forms the basis for the relaunch of the Orient pendant.

The Orient pendant was designed and created exactly 50 years ago in 1963 by Jo Hammerborg (1920-82). Jo Hammerborg was recognised for his innovative, modernist design, and the Orient pendant was one of his many commercial successes in the 1960s and 1970s.

Lightyears can now offer, in cooperation with the Hammerborg family, the classic pendant returned completely faithful to the original, in two pendant sizes: Ø 225 mm and Ø 340 mm. The organic mode of expression beautifully connects the deep, vibrant copper glow and the rosewood top. The rosewood's dark grain creates a natural connection with the tightly woven black textile cord. The lamp has 21/24 narrow, vertical slots at the top of the genuine copper shade allowing light to filter through. The fitting elegantly conceals the low energy light source and ensures a soft, pleasant light without any glare.

We are proud to be able to offer again the Orient pendant by Jo Hammerborg, which has a natural place in the 21th century“, comments Rasmus Markholt, Product and Design Director at Lightyears.

Orient has been launched at Euroluce in Milan, along with others novelties of Lightyears.
