Thus Spoke The Marble: The Journey Alters You. An exhibition in which Turkish marble is reinterpreted at Milan

Turkish marbles are the core of the project presented at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2012 from Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB) and Aegean Mine Exporters Association (EMİB) in the exhibition called Thus Spoke the Marble: The Journey Alters You, a project curated and conceived by the leading Turkish design studio Demirden Design to promote contemporary design tradition of creative renewal that has characterized the country in recent years.

An ideal and visual path developing through architectural environments created by leading Turkish and International designers - Werner Aisslinger, Emre Arolat, Birsel + Seck, El Ultimo Grito, Alfredo Häberli, Richard Hutten, James Irvine, Can Yalman - who are coordinated by Demirden Design to involve the public into a physical and mental space and to explore the endless possibilities of marble applications.

The Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association (IMIB) and the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association (EMIB) are professional non-profit associations which deal with all export activities in the mineral sector of their regions. The Istanbul Mineral Exporters’ Association was founded in 1976 and has 3200 members and the Aegean Mineral Exporters’ Association was founded in 1991 and has 1400 members. With this exhibition, they aim to communicate the importance that the Turkish natural stone industry gives to design and innovation while strengthening the notion of the country as a powerful manufacturing centre for these precious materials.
