iSaloni 2015 preview: Huma, the chair that predicts happiness designed by Mario Ruiz for Expormim

Simplicity, comfort and durability come together in this design by Mario Ruiz for Spanish company Expormim. Three features that stand as a guarantee for happiness.

In the Sufi tradition, Huma is a legendary bird. It is impossible to catch, but only a glimpse his shadow and happiness is guaranteed for life. The Huma chair again explores the possibilities of rattan when providing greater comfort, thanks to the flexibility of the rods incorporated in its enveloping shell-shaped backrest and to seat upholstery.

If there is one word that defines the new collection of Mario Ruiz for Expormim is “detail”. Small details in the design turn out to be a great collection that drinks once more from the sources of the tradition of craftsmanship which is the main distinguishing feature of Expormim.

In the words of the designer: “Nothing would be as it is in the elements that make up this collection without the material that supports it: solid wood. It is the point of origin, the skin that gives identity to the pieces, which explains each of the details and which, in contact with the rattan, generates a surprisingly fluid dialog.”

Besides Huma chair, the collection is composed by a superb solid wood table, various coffee tables on which wood and rattan are integrated and a system of containers and shelves.
