Ernestomeda, leader in the high end of the designer kitchen market, took part for the first time at LivingKitchen Cologne (14-20 January 2013). The event was a chance to present Icon, designed by Giuseppe Bavuso.

Icon is a programme at the top of the Ernestomeda offering, particularly suitable for the international markets. Participation at the German fair was a strategic opportunity for meeting and acquiring new business partners, and is part of the internationalization plan currently being implemented by Ernestomeda, which saw its exports soar by 35% in 2012 and is currently focusing on the contract sector as well as the retail channel.

The Icon compositional layout displayed at Living Kitchen combines luxury materials such as heat treated oak, used for the EVOLUTION pull-out peninsula and the finish of the CAN-DO cupboard, with more technical, innovative features like DuPont™ Corian, used for base and wall cabinets, and concrete-look food-approved ICONcrete, adopted seamlessly throughout the Sequel cooking/washing zone.

- MOVE UP motorised storage cabinet: designed to ensure that all useful accessories are to hand when preparing food while still keeping the work-surface tidy, it is moved up and down by a concealed mechanism, activated by means of a touch control panel.

- SEQUEL cooktop area: developed by Ernestomeda, the innovative food-approved, concrete-look ICONcrete is used seamlessly for the Sequel cooking/washing zone, enclosed by a reflective clear glass splashback, specially created to separate the kitchen from the living-room area.

- CAN-DO cupboard system: has a pantograph opening mechanism, and is able to take appliances - which may be either visible, in a specific section, or concealed - with the aid of the exclusive “Ernestomeda Safety Oven Switch Off” safety system. This is an electronic device fitted when appliances are built into cupboards, which monitors power draw-down when the cabinet door is closed. Once electricity consumption exceeds 100 W, if the cupboard door is not opened within 90 seconds of the warning buzzer sounding, the system automatically switches the appliance off for complete safety.
