After its architectonic lighting for outdoors, the Fran Silvestre architectural studio continues to amaze us with the complete BLAU collection of outdoor furniture of gandiablasco, manufactured exclusively using aluminium profiles, hence its light and fluid forms.

The structural profiles are designed in an orthographic manner while the seats adopt a more curved geometry that recalls the more traditional fabric chairs as Fran Silvestre points out; “The use of perforated panels allows the light to pass through each of the pieces making them almost transparent while also preventing water from gathering on the horizontal planes.

BLAU, which is the word used to describe the colour blue in that region of the Mediterranean around Valencia, also refers to its lifestyle. “When we build things here we never ignore the continuity of the indoors and the outdoors, or the understanding of light as a construction material,” points out Silvestre.

With this first collaboration between the Valencia based architect and GANDIABLASCO the geometries expressed and the manufacturing criteria employed make his search for “efficient beauty” manifest, in the architect's own words; “We consider it just as an architectural commission, simply on a smaller scale.

A subtle and elegant collection of outdoor furniture with a marked architectural character and an integrated and timeless quality. The micro-perforated structures are common to all elements of the collection that includes; chairs, sofas, stools, loungers, foot rests, tables and the tree-like lamp which share an aesthetic that resembles white sheets of paper folded by the wind. Depending on the angle they are observed they can look very different.

The BLAU system features a unique type of joint that hides the fixings that secure the profiles.
Each of the pieces combines seamlessly within any setting.
