Pharrell Williams and his tank chair, the Richard Neutra unknown furniture collection, Emeco celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Navy Chair, Rick Owens or the young Ladies & Gentlemen tandem are some of the stars and upcoming talents of American Design in Paris exhibition. For the first time, Mona Bismarck American Center for Art & Culture opens its rooms on the 1st floor to showcase “American Design“, an exhibition overviewing the current American creation. From 19th to 25th May, during the Designers Days festival.

Both young independent designers (Bec Brittain, Anna Karlin, Fort Standard, Matt Gagnon ...) as established companies or promising young ones (Emeco, Knoll, Juniper, Neal Feay, Roll & Hill's ...) will be shown. A simple and effective scenography will emphasise the solemnity of this historical place.

Amercian Design's ambition is to provide an overview of current American Design in Paris. Initiatives have emerged to promote awareness of the major players in contemporary American design. In the US, WantedDesign, an international exchange program, showcases dynamic contemporary creations in the United States. In France, the Parisian showroom Triode has given visibility to young American designers over the last several years.

It is also the mission of the Mona Bismarck American Center to promote cultural exchanges between France and the United States. Thus, the American Design program helps discover the many facets of a complex creative scene. For the very first time, young independent designers, new publishing companies as well as other established names will be reunited. One will also be able to see recent works from Fort Standard, Bec Brittain, Lindsey Adelman, Paul Loebach, Jason Miller, David Weeks, François Chambard, Matt Gagnon, Frederick McSwain, Dror Benchetrit, Michael Boyd, among others, as well as established compaines like Bernhardt design, Emeco or younger such as Juniper, Roll&Hill, Neal Feay, BlankBlank or Council...

American Design is presented by Jacques Barret (www.triodedesign.com) and supported by Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat (WantedDesign), with AIGA/NY (www.aigany.org), the Museum of Art and Design (www.mad.org), The Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum (www.cooperhewitt.org) and Parsons Paris The New School (www.paris.parsons.edu).
