The Mexican designer Alejandro Villarreal, Hierve‘s principal London based studio, has been awarded at the prestigious Homes & Gardens Designer Awards 2014, in the Furniture Designer category. The award was given for the Vitrina Collection (see more about Vitrina in Infurma), designed exclusively for British manufacturer Case Furniture.

The awards ceremony were held at the British Museum in London, and were hosted by Homes & Gardens, which is one of Britain's best known interior design magazines, and is perfectly placed to identify British-based designers who are making a difference. Judges including Mathew Hilton, Ruth Aram and Deborah Barker, Editor in Chief Homes & Gardens, chose the winners in each of the ten categories by considering their body of work not just individual pieces.

The arresting Vitrina Collection (Vitrina means glass cabinet in Spanish) is an original take on the old idea of a ‘cabinet of curiosities’. The judges said it offered “a colourful backing for any collection” and it's “so practical to keep everything behind glass”.
