The Alicante firm Actiu is releasing five new ranges that are focused on ergonomics, flexibility and versatility: eFit and TNK Flex office chairs, designed by Alegre Design and the Bend, endorsed by Stone Design.

Actiu has undertaken a journey towards wellbeing and productivity. A process which entails learning new ways of seeing products, designing them and understanding them. New formulas to interpret spaces, always with the objective of ensuring that the people inhabiting them are happier.

They have called this new focus #CoolWorking and they will be presenting it at the next Orgatec trade fair, in a space of 600 m2 located in Hall 9.1, Stand B08-C039. On six different stages, different protagonists will carry out their working day in the most varied environments and spaces, but where they all work in accordance with the new work paradigms.

The firm will leverage these spaces to demonstrate their collections, five ranges that try to respond to the requirements posed by new trends - people, collaboration, flexibility, autonomy, sustainability, technology-.

TNK Flex, a second skin that anticipates your movements

Through their Research & Development team and Alegre Design, the industrial design studio, Actiu has taken it a step further with their creation of TNK Flex, the functional and managerial chair, which intuitively anticipates the user's needs by adapting to the morphology and movements of the human body and adjusting the backrest and seat as if it were a second skin.

TNK Flex brings two new fundamental developments: the technology applied to this chair is based on suspension - with a suspended seat that gives the sensation of weightlessness based on air chambers on the inside of the foam - and the haptic interaction with the user. ‘Haptic’ is understood to mean the sensory perception received through contact produced by any part of the human body closely tied with movement.

The seat is the point from which the user supports themselves on a completely adaptable backrest, (height, angle, twist) that interprets the users’ movements and pre-empts them in a smooth dance. It facilitates one to have total freedom of movement throughout their working day, while always maintaining correct posture and maximum efficiency.

The high level of technology enclosed within the TNK Flex chair has been made possible thanks to our urge to excel and constantly improve that nearly 50 years of experience in the office furniture sector have given us. This experience is coordinated with five fundamental pillars that need to be present in office furniture: performance, quality, ergonomics, design and competitiveness. And all of this without renouncing our high safety standards and respect for the environment, as well as our commitment to manufacturing 100% of our products in our facilities at the Castalla Actiu Technological Park in Alicante (Spain).

With the support of Alegre Design, eFit, a chair inspired by the versatility and customisation of the younger generations, the millennials and all those people opting for new and more dynamic, flexible and creative ways of working. People for whom space, flexibility and wellbeing are key, look after their health and appreciate a chair that marries design, comfort and ergonomics. For these people, Actiu is introducing this chair that has a young aesthetic, is light-hearted, yet serious and committed to ergonomics and caring for one's health. It also prevents possible distractions due to discomfort.

To do this, eFit has a flexible and breathable backrest that uses a dynamic lumbar system to respond to the movements of the back so that by lifting of this area, load is taken off the upper part of the neck and back. Furthermore, it has two back heights, a self-weighing system with four locking positions and an imprint on the lumbar area designed to bring the utmost comfort to the user's back. It takes its inspiration from geometric shapes arising from bionics and 3D technology.

The formation of the foam, the distribution of the air chambers on the inside and the thickness of the seat are all issues that have been revised in this model and have been incorporated into the rest of the company's chairs.

The Longo collection, designed by Ramos & Bassols, is characterised by its fusion of soft seating with offices through a platform that has a robust structure and a light aspect which connects and ramifies a multitude of modules in the one space. Its compositional nature, its flexibility and versatility enable it to plot working settings that are more pleasant, open and sustained, as well as all types of combination that adapt to the needs of each space.

Longo recently won a prize in Chicago in what was its first time participating in NeoCon, winning the Gold accolade of “The Best of NeoCon” in the “Lounge Furniture Collections” category. Now at Orgatec, Actiu will show all of the components in this family and will offer new solutions: Longo Nómada, a range of sofas and armchairs, which are both collective and independent and which add to the operational and managerial desks; storage solutions such as storage units or bookshelves, and; sound-proofing attachments and panelling. Longo is the perfect tool for creating mini-architecture in work spaces and adjusting the equipment's requirements with the same style, as well as a strong minimalist and elegant presence.

It fuses the integration of connectivity and technology into the very furniture. This range is positioning itself in the market at a very competitive level, which manages to overturn the way in which we interpret work spaces, the objective of which is to ensure the people inhabiting them are happier. Developed by Actiu's I+D Departmen.

Twist knew how to solve the problem of easily and naturally incorporating new technologies and internet connection or direct access to information, all concentrated in one single product. In one of the series, the desks are anchored to a vertical platform that incorporates a flat screen and access to different types of network connections.

Twist provides multiple configuration options that, just like the characteristics of the dance from where its name comes, grants the office with agility, rhythm, freshness and flexibility. In this way, and from the basis of a solid aluminium structure, comprised of a central framework, which joins the legs through an assembled system that uses a single screw per leg, opens up the range's possibilities that it is capable of withstanding up to three workstations in one single three-legged structure.

One of the advantages of Twist is the trapezoid-shaped desks, available in standard or tall heights (so as to be able to work while standing or on a stool). This is ideal for presentations, video conferences and online meetings as they allow the screen to be completely visible from all angles and for all people using it.

Within the varied range of possible configurations, there is an option for tilting desks, meaning desks whose position and direction can be moved within a 360-degree radius. This is a very practical variable for hot desking, informal meetings or for enabling cooperation among professionals.

Bend, designed by the Stone Design studio, has emerged to bring movement and life to contract spaces and offices with their collection of elastic soft seating. It is modular and organic, inspired by meanders along rivers. Just like undulating water that navigates through the terrain, Bend draws spaces by generating different resting areas that adapt to all users and requirements. Thanks to its being integrated into the furniture, it is equipped with all the connectivity functions to meet the new trends.

The different depths and forms of their seats are precisely what generates this organic movement that enables Bend to never seem like a linear and uniform piece. The range was designed with a desire for open configuration and an almost infinite capacity to be customised, thus providing the user with simplicity, comfort and varied options for.

The Bend range also enjoys all the necessary elements to fulfil infinite situations: desks with satellite electricity for charging any device; a central desk with a flowerpot, enabling the integration of nature into the collection; backrests with improved comfort or supplementary smaller desks which give the necessary support to be able to leave your phone or eat something.

Following on in the same footsteps as Actiu's earlier soft seating ranges, Bend aims to create different and inspiring spaces where one can conduct informal meetings, have a break or make a phone call, by way of a collection that is directly inspired by the free fluidity and harmony of nature.

Bend is the first collaboration between Actiu and the Stone Design studio, made up of the Madrid residents, Cutu Mazuelos and Eva Prego. They specialise in interior and product design and all of their work is closely linked to nature and simplicity, which invades the form and substance of each and every one of their projects. In addition to being a product designed to be comfortable and functional, Bend is a good reflection of this philosophy.

CoolWorking by Actiu involves an analytical and consulting process that identifies the client's needs and provides the optimal solution, taking into account the space, the working style that is being designed within the space, the aesthetics and of course, the functionality of the product to be deployed. The ultimate goal is to ensure happier and, for that matter, more productive workers.

According to the conclusions of numerous studies on productivity and efficiency, offices nowadays should be designed based on four trends which help one find the so-called ‘flow state’ - which enables us to be absorbed and completely focused on what we are doing, thus achieving a maximum state of productivity. These spaces, which encourage concentration, collaboration, sociability and training, if adequately combined, facilitate work in any space. Actiu's job is to help define these areas and propose suitable furniture for each of them. And they are doing this by the means of a “Travel guide” in which the travel companions are all people opting for different work spaces.
