Oscar Vidal Quist breathes new life to Macao Lounge Bar in Altea (Alicante), to strengthen the inside and the midday and early evening. So, the studio explains us the project development,

Located at the Luis Campomanes marina in Altea, the Macao Lounge bar is a fashionable nightclub of the area. The bar is long known and has a pretty consistent client base that needed some refreshment and also wanted to widen it and fill the whole opening time to gain economic return from the venue. The best working time for the bar was the evening and night as a nightclub and the terrace but we needed to strengthen the inside and the midday and early evening.

As a must in the renovation we had to keep and reinforce the night and party character of the bar while trying to widen the client base of the daytime. Being located in a marina close to the yachts with a big terrace the outdoors are strong value of the business and we needed to focus in the inside. We had to move the client inside thus the main part of the renovation was concentrated here in order to make a cozy, elegant and yet very appealing atmosphere able to work as night club and as lounge bar. We added a new food bar to provide the bar with snack and food service in order to keep the clients during daytime and evening. To show this new service we made the office as an open bar like a gourmet market located in the way to the restroom where everybody will see it.

For the style concept we seek the space to have an elegant and cozy character with exotic elements to make it appealing and casual. The distribution was essentially kept with a long bar with a big presence, reinforcing the counterbar so that it was evident it is a cocktail bar, the seating area was organized in an enveloping way with perimeter sofas and a vip area separating the bar area from the table area that works as a dance floor at night. This VIP area is an incorporation that works as a point of attention for the dance area and as an organizer of the space. A metal palm tree was made to top it, covering an important part of the ceiling, becoming the protagonist of the space.

Elegance and quality feeling is provided by materials like the velvet in the furniture, the wood of bar and backbar, the solid brass of the lamps and tables and furniture pieces like the big taylormade sofas. For the fancy side of the decor we have the palm tree, hanging plants and RGB illumination for a party atmosphere.
