Interior designer Oleg Volosovsky, founder of Loft Buro, first created this project as a tribute to the history of his city. The Chicken Kiev Restaurant is developed on two levels, a mezzanine and a terrace, is inspired to 70s-80s atmosphere, which recalls shapes, colours and styles.

Several details recall the history of Kiev and are easy recognizable by local visitors. Starting from the lamps, quotation of the historical ones located in the subway, enriched and decorated according to the style of that time, until ceiling stucco; from lead glass windows to delicate chestnut leaves, city symbol, impressed on tapestries.

The true distinctive sign of the restaurant is though (and it couldn’t be differently considering its name) the funny cock clock that overlooks the room renewing and modifying the traditional cuckoo clock. It sings each hour, passing the time. A funny choice but certainly not conventional!

All furniture, partitions, sculptures and lights have been specifically designed by Loft Buro for this space.

Partitions and sculptures recall Kiev's past with references to the great architect Gorodetsky. In Oleg's mind, the general atmosphere has to remind delicate interiors of a salon”, a private club where Ukrainian intelligencjia used to meet during Soviet Union time. That is why the entrance is almost hidden behind an invisible door close to the wardrobe.

With quotations, lights, memories and tributes, Volosovsky shows the attention paid to the storytelling, which is one of the main aspects of his creative activity.
