Winners announced for the 13th international student competition Cosentino Design Challenge

Cosentino Design Challenge is an international competition sponsored by the Spanish multinational, Cosentino Group, with the aim of fostering the creativity and talent of architecture and design students from around the world

Cosentino Group, Spanish multinational global leader in the production and distribution of innovative surfaces for the world of architecture and design, announced that the winning projects of the 13th edition of this international competition Cosentino Design Challenge are:

Architecture Category - Topic “Cosentino and Water”

Three winning projects, awarded €1,000 each

Oasis from Eduardo García Vidal (School: Escuela de Ingeniería y Arquitectura de Zaragoza - Spain)

FALL from Francisco Jesús Martínez Viedma (School: Escuela Arte Almería - Spain)

The butterfly effect from Sonia Salgado Ureña (School: Escuela de Artediez, Madrid - Spain)

Three special mentions, awarded with diploma

The hoop from Anna Ebert (School: Berlin International University - Germany)

Bubble waterfall from Maria Gil Boronat (School: ETSAM UPM, Madrid - Spain)

Dune Cluster Housing from Ong Xiang An (School: Lasalle College of the Arts - Singapore)

Design Category - Topic “Cosentino and Energy”

Three winning projects, awarded €1,000 each

Constellatio from Henar Martínez Casais and Santiago Álvarez Bouza (School: Escuela de Ingenierías Industriales de la Universidad de Valladolid - Spain)

STRATOS from David Acebedo García and Jessica Martínez Sánchez (School: ETSAM UPM, Madrid - Spain)

Aura, the luminescent sign from David Rocha, Helena Açafrão and Rosa Mendes (School: University of Aveiro - Portugal)

Three special mentions, awarded with diploma

Mob from Claire Lescop and Magali Simoes (School: ESAM Design Paris - France)

The Lightning from Cristina Garrido Jiménez (School: Escuela Arte Almería - Spain)

Pavilion for Cosentino from Aigul akhmetzianova (School: ETSAM UPM, Madrid - Spain)

Once again, the competition has grown in the number of papers submitted, this year reaching a total of 350 candidates from Central and South America, Europe, Oceania and Asia. The jury has evaluated 214 projects in the architecture category and 136 in design.

The decision took place this morning in the showroom Cosentino City Madrid and the jury was made up of:

  • Santiago Alfonso, Cosentino Group's vice president of marketing and communication, and president of the CDC jury
  • Jorge Roa, professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Sevilla (ETSAS), Spain
  • David Chapman, professor at the University of Lulea (LTU), Sweden
  • Raúl Fraga, professor at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid (ETSAM), Spain
  • Antonio Castilla, professor at the Escuela de Arte de Almería (EAA), Spain
  • Luis Miguel Alonso, professor at the Escuela de Arte de Pamplona, Spain
  • Tomás Alía, architect and designer invited to the CDC13 verdict
