When leaves begin to change colour in the second half of the year, people tend to turn their attention to their own four walls. Even before Christmas casts its shadow during Advent, many consumers start to ask themselves questions such as, What am I going to give my loved ones, friends and family this year? What should I serve my guests? How can I decorate my house, flat and table?

Answers to these and many other questions are offered by Tendence exhibitors in the form of exciting new products and collections, especially for wining and dining, aimed at the autumn and winter season. “Retailers can generate significant increases in sales with carefully chosen supplementary product lines, especially in the weeks before Christmas. This is a time when consumers are looking for inspiration and are prepared to spend money spontaneously”, says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence. According to the Management Report on gift-giving in Germany, which was published on the occasion of Tendence 2012, the Germans are particularly generous with gifts at Christmas, which thus tops the list of all times for giving gifts.

Design-oriented exhibitors, such as AdHoc, ASA Selection, Blomus, Chilewich, Eva Solo, Koziol, Leonardo (Glaskoch), Rosendahl and Seibel Designpartner with the Mono and Pott brands, present an interesting spectrum of products for the kitchen and table in the Loft section of Tendence (Hall 11.1). Additionally, Jähn Handels GmbH has a number of innovative manufacturers, including Joseph Joseph, Lékué and Zak Designs, in its portfolio. In other words, visitors from a variety of retail segments have the chance to supplement their assortments with high-grade products for preparing, decorating and presenting food and beverages, or with stylish and trendy accessories. In Hall 8.0, buyers will find decoration ideas for Christmas and numerous other occasions in the Seasonal Decoration product segment where many companies, including AM Design, Kaemingk and Opidecor with the Drescher brand, will be taking part. The product ranges of suppliers such as Pad, Sander and Scantex include delightful table linen, which will be on show in Hall 9.0. Additionally, Ambiente Europe, Colourful Life and Ideal Home Range will be showing creative and seasonal collections of table linen and napkins made of paper in Halls 9.0 and 9.2.

Culinary delights - not just for Christmas

At the Gifts Unlimited product segment in Hall 9.2, visitors will find the Gourmet Shop stocked with high-quality foodstuffs suitable for giving as presents. There, they can order delicatessen products for discerning consumers from more than 20 companies. The spectrum stretches from selected oils and vinegars, via extraordinary chocolate creations, to tea and coffee specialities. The exhibitors with tasty products that make ideal gifts include Confiserie de Fries, Dethlefsen & Balk, Die Olive, English Tea Shop Germany, Gourmet Berner, Laux, Tee-Maass and Wolfram Berge.

One of the highlights Tendence visitors should not miss is the ‘Window Dressing Live. Before Christmas’ special show in Hall 9.2 where visual-merchandising expert Karin Wahl will present concepts and storytelling ideas for window dressing and in-shop displays during the run-up to Christmas. On all four days of the fair, Karin Wahl will hold 15 minute lectures at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 hrs, and demonstrate how to achieve a highly emotional effect that will attract customers into the shop with relatively little effort. Tendence, the international consumer-goods event

Tendence (30 August to 2 September 2014) is one of Europe's most important order platforms for consumer goods in the second half of the year. The extensive range of products is relevant for all channels of distribution: for the retail trade, Tendence is the decisive order platform for the busy Christmas and winter business while bulk buyers can obtain an initial overview of new products for the coming spring and summer season, 2015. As in the past, the Ecostyle and Webchance fairs will be held concurrently with Tendence 2014.
