Furniture China 2013 achieved a new height of visitor arrivals

Renowned as one of the crucial furniture exhibitions in the world, Furniture China persists elevating its expo quality to showcase the best value of furniture industry on a global scale. Furniture China 2013 bucked the trend with double-digit growth at 18.5 percent in aspect of visitor arrivals and concluded with a great success on 15 September, 2013.

Besides the key Chinese furniture enterprises, there were around 292 overseas companies participating as exhibitors, including 8 pavilions from France, Belgium, Puglia of Italy, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand at Shanghai New Int’l Expo Centre (SNIEC) and 4 pavilions from France, USA, Sweden and Taiwan at Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center (SWEECC).

Compared with that of last year, the 5-day exhibition attracted 85,313 visitors in total, including 64,182 local visitors and 21,131 from overseas which cover 6 continents of 144 countries and regions. Visitors from Asia were up to 46.43%, followed by European visitors at 23.71%, North American 10.65%, Oceanic 9.37%, Latin American 6.33%, and African 3.51%.

The Top 30 best represented countries/regions for overseas visitors and their no. of visitors were: USA (1,634), Australia (1,614), Korea (1,337), Japan (1,158), Hong Kong SAR (1,154), Malaysia (1,153), Taiwan (978), India (869), U.K.(869), Thailand (628), Canada (617), Russia (610), France (570), Singapore (495), Germany (437), Italy (392), Spain (358), Mexico (356), Brazil (345), New Zealand (342), Indonesia (336), South Africa (275), Saudi Arabia (263), Turkey (258), Belgium (257), Philippines (252), Holland (206), UAE (199), Sweden (172), Vietnam (151).

Design seems to be always the protagonist of the expo theme. There were two main events associated with design onsite the exhibition: Design Hall (W4 & W5) and Design of Designers (DOD), as well as many design relevant activities.

Designer of Designers moved to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) this year, concurrently held with the Furniture China 2013. More than 150 talented designers from around 12 countries and regions together performed a design feast at Hall N6A & N6B. Designers from Italy, Uruguay, Demark, Indonesia, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhejiang, Shenzhen, Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan etc. all brought creative furniture works displayed in Designers pavilion. Hundreds of visitors and exhibitor representatives got active involved in 8 majors design activities: Deco Café, Best of the Year — Annual Award Ceremony of Home appliance, Show Flat, Designers’ Night, Designers’ Morning Tea, Design Forum, Expo Store and 2013 China Furniture Design Award, which greatly added vitality to the exhibition.

Another highlight goes to two weighted high-end conferences —— 2013 China Furniture Marketing & Sales Conference and 2013 China Furniture Design Conference, both held at Kerry Hotel, Pudong Shanghai on September 11th. Total number of 340 representatives attended the conferences with 239 for Distributor Conference & 274 for Design Conference respectively. Representative components covered delegates and leaders from regional furniture association, furniture manufacturers, furniture store owners, furniture distributors and designers. 2013 China Furniture Marketing & Sales Conference mainly focused on the reform of China's furniture retailing mode. A few renowned key-note speakers shared their views and perspectives in regard to the emphatic issues. 2013 China Furniture Design Conference touched upon topics concerning inter connection between furniture design and interior decoration / soft outfit design, jointly hosted by the Show Organizer and China's Interior Decoration Association (CIDA). Both of the conferences received satisfactory results and were highly praised according to the survey statistics. 88 percent of the conference attendees felt satisfied about the meeting contents and speakers’ presentations. They deemed such industry conferences were beneficial to explore and establish business relationships, meanwhile provided a good communication platform to absorb fruitful business inspirations.

Furniture China 2014 will be held for five days from 10 - 14 September, 2014
