Pliè Collection by Studio Klass for FIAM, inspired by famous dance step of ballet

Pliè by Studio Klass is a furniture collection which includes table, chair and cabinet. It is focused on FIAM's main material, the curved glass, but also explores new possibilities combining it with different materials such as wood and leather.

A plié is one of the principal dance steps of ballet, that consists of a slow bending of the knees, keeping them symmetrically pointed outwards. It is considered to be among the most elegant and technically expressive movements of the discipline, and requires awareness and ability from the student to execute it.

The Pliè Collection for FIAM comes from the idea of reconciling the rationality of the product with the value of the object created, following artisanal work processes, in which the glass, protagonist material of the collection, is modelled with the same rigor and attention with which a dance step is executed, chasing a harmonious balance between classic craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Plié is developed in three different products - Table, Chair and Cabinet - that become part of a collection with geometric lines and sinuous lengths, with reference to the modern architectural heritage of post war Milan, composed of lines and forms always attributed to a rigorous logic, result of a continuous connection between production techniques and materials.

About Studio Klass

In 2009 Marco Maturo and Alessio Roscini founded Studio Klass, an industrial design agency based in Milano. The studio operates in several areas, from furniture to product design and, over the years, has collaborated with italian and international companies, presenting its products during many design fairs and events in Milan, Paris and New York.

The work of Studio Klass aims to innovate function and the way of use products, with a particular attention to materials and forms. From 2009 Marco Maturo and Alessio Roscini are both professors at Istituto Europeo di Design of Milan.
