Design Studio PerezOchando brings together functionality and vanguardism in Okapi, the new armchair by Missana

2016-10-04

From the lush forests of Africa a wild and trendy armchair arrives to Missana, Okapi is a very original and functional piece designed by PerezOchando, and it is the latest addition to our “The Novelties” collection.

okapi_missana_perez-ochando_cualiti_jimenez-de-nalda_02In the same way as the animal it borrows its name from, the Okapi, which front side reminds us to a giraffe and the back side to a zebra, the Okapi armchair reveals a striking contrast between its front side with rounded beech wooden legs and its back side with its metal lacquered legs in the shape of a clip. Is that extreme contrast what brings Okapi to live and provides it with a very strong personality, according to its designers Okapi is the perfect armchair for lobbies & meeting rooms.

The schematic lines that give form to Okapi have helped to create a very ergonomic and versatile armchair that results in an elegant, edgy and comfortable product. In Missana they have reinforced the exceptional design by PerezOchando with an extreme upholstery selection with texture & color duality that emphasizes the contrast in which the designers based their inspiration. We have used Razzle-Dazzle -Ranger and Twill -Rouge fabrics for its launching, both from Febrik.

Claudia Pérez and Pedro Ochando are the founders of PerezOchando Studio, together they are the perfect combination for a perfect cocktail, they have two very different profiles that allow them to be able to work in many different projects such as graphic, furniture and lighting design among many other disciplines. Both of them are university teachers and they also organize product design workshops and collaborations with consultancy firms from Barcelona such as Leadtochange or Bee&Butterfly.

Missana has over 20 years of proven experience and endless passion for the design and upholstery worlds, with a new acquired challenge of making real new ideas and innovative proposals from designers all over the world. Every product is traditionally handmade in the factory in Alberic (Valencia, Spain). Missana’s products have been specified and used in many projects all over the world offering the most demanding audiences trendy and elegant pieces that are modern and contemporary at the same time, pieces that are perdurable over the years due to their durability and the use of noble materials in their production process.
