A New Life for Great Design. With this slogan Carmenes, the Spanish manufacturer of upholstered design furniture, announces its presence at Imm Cologne 2013 where the company is presenting its New Collection. The collection is composed of Afrika, Diam and Monroe families designed by Jorge Pensi, Samuel Accoceberry and Lievore Altherr Molina respectively. These three new designs are included in Carmenes extensive catalogue, which boasts some of Spanish design’s most iconic pieces, such as Premier and Manolete by Lievore Altherr Molina or Salt and Pepper and Chocolate by Jorge Pensi. Furthermore, in this Imm Cologne edition Carmenes has received an “International Innovation Award 2013” for its Afrika Collection. Those prizes, established since 2002, are considered one of the most renowned design awards in the interior furnishing industry worldwide and are granted by the German Design Council and Imm Cologne. Along with Jorge Pensi, a regular contributor to the company, Carmenes has developed this model that represents the union of elegance and subtlety of this design that stands out for its fine aesthetic character. Afrika Collection will be presented at the special exhibition for the “Interior Innovation Award” during the 2013 edition of Imm Cologne (Hall 3.1 – Booth A-90). WHAT’S IN CARMENES BOOTH At Carmenes booth visitors can explore the different settings offered by each of the three new series of sofas. An atmosphere that changes with each step and that will certainly capture the imagination those who explore the Afrika, Diam and Monroe series further. In the words of Luis Ignacio Sánchez, Executive Director of Carmenes, "the booth offers a tour of these creations, in small appearances, that accompany our daily existence and express the creative force of our company". By adding the experience of Perobell, and through the constant work with widely-acclaimed design companies such as Figueras, Carmenes understands design as part of contemporary culture. Carmenes collaboration with renowned designers has produced and will continue to produce pieces that combine comfort, beauty, common sense and formal rigor. Carmenes has always placed great belief in independent design when developing a catalogue where great contemporary designers such as Lievore Altherr Molina, Jorge Pensi, Lluís Codina, Mathias Hoffmann and Hector Diego enjoy a unique platform from which to offer their current and future designs. “Our designs are traversed by a continuous renewal of techniques, materials and resources, and also by the adaptation to new technologies along with the coexistence of classical and avant-garde. This booth attests the internationalization of expressive language and the increasing contribution of our company to a universe in constant demand of new aesthetic stimuli”, explains the Carmenes Executive Director. Carmenes aims to become a major player that ensures the visibility of its products while acting as springboard for young designers, "offering through its design programs a complete freedom of expression and maximum flexibility when planning the seating within any space worldwide", concludes Luis Ignacio Sánchez. Carmenes is a family whose members, from the designer who traces the first outline of what later becomes a seating element, to the person who loads the trucks, including the purchase of materials, the selection of fabrics, ironwork, upholstery, sales reps and product developers, are all proud to be able to present pieces which carry individual names and surnames.
