Is there nothing left to invent? At GANDIABLASCO they think so and that’s the reason why with the 12th International Furniture Design Contest they want to award originality. Surprise with your creativity and imagination by presenting your piece for the outdoors that will improve the experience of outdoor living, with a piece of furniture, an accessory or a light fitting… you decide.

The contest is aimed at students and young design professionals from around the world between the ages of 18 and 35 given that it’s objective is to “support the ideas of young designers”, in the words of president José A. Gandía-Blasco. During previous editions such emerging talents as Kensaku Oshiro, have been recognised, who later went on the design for other brands of the GANDIABLASCO group.

The most recent edition of the contest saw more than 300 projects that were submitted this year from more than 40 different countries.

The competition jury is made up of professionals related in one way or another to the world of design and culture: Fuensanta Nieto, architect working with the Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos practice; David Leppan, businessman; Angel Schlesser, fashion designer; Jesus M. Castaño García-Porrero, director of the Fundacion de Arte y Pensamiento Martin Chirino of Las Palmas; Javier Abio, co-director and founder of Neo2.
