Architect Frank Gehry to be honored as 2018 Design Icon at Las Vegas Winter Market

Frank Gehry, an internationally acclaimed architect and Pritzker Prize recipient, has been named as the 2018 Design Icon by Las Vegas Market.

As the head of Gehry Partners LLP, a full-service firm with broad international experience in academic, commercial, museum, performance and residential projects, Gehry has redefined architecture in numerous cities all over the world and continues to shape contemporary commercial and residential landscapes.

Maricich, chief executive officer for International Market Centers. “His buildings have taken architectural boundaries to new levels, encouraging professionals and the public to rethink any preconceived limitations about what architectural design can be.”

The centerpiece of programming at Las Vegas Winter Market, the Design Icon Awardhonors an architect or interior designer who has made a significant contribution to the industry throughout their career. Now in its 12th year, the Design Icon Award seeks to both highlight the achievements of exemplary design and architectural professionals and to offer Las Vegas Market attendees an opportunity to connect with and learn from living legends.

Officially the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, the Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health is a national resource for research, education, prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's disease and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and represents a collaboration between Larry Ruvo, who lost his father, Lou, to Alzheimer's, and Gehry, a longtime champion of Huntington 's disease research.

The 2018 Design Icon presentation will take place on Tuesday, January 30, at 3 p.m. in the WorldView Room, 16th floor, Building B. The event will include an overview of Gehry's work and a Q&A session with Maricich. Admission to the presentation is free and open to Las Vegas Market attendees.
