This autumn's new additions to the Objects collection by Danish company Fritz Hasnen revolve around a simple, pure design idiom with roots in a classic, soft and feminine expression. The brand new products, designed together with Cecilie Manz and aiayu, share as their common denominator a keen sense of detail.

Reflecting Fritz Hansen's genuine passion for quality design, all Objects products are crafted from high-quality materials and have their own stories to tell.

CECILIE MANZ FOR OBJECTS - JAPANESE STONEWARE AND ORGANIC POUFS

With her new designs for Objects, Cecilie Manz - already a part of the Fritz Hansen family - demonstrates once again how products with a clear design idiom and refined details can become both unique and narrative.

The slip cast earthenware vases and bowls, made in a traditional pottery studio in Seto, Japan, integrate a tradition of expert hand craftsmanship into every step of the process. This town has been a pottery centre for more than 2000 years, with the special ferruginous clay material from the area lending a characteristic golden glow and a unique expression to each piece. While no two vases are alike, each clearly conveys the life and personality of the material.

The “Light Tray” candlestick is the highlight of the series; the glow from a single candle illuminates the interior of the bowl in tribute to the warm, cosy atmosphere only candlelight can create.

Simultaneously functional and decorative, they add a sculptural element to everyday life, and are easy transformed into extra seats on festive occasions. Here, the materials are a subtle combination of the raw canvas used in Poul Kjærholm furniture and the classic Remix wool from Kvadrat, with a defining, unifying leather piping also found on Cecilie Manz's Minuscule chairs.

The new Objects cushions, created by the Danish design firm aiayu, are made from linen and the softest baby llama wool. The wool comes from the Bolivian Highlands, where the llamas live in the rough climate more than 4000 metres above sea level, and is one of the best and most hard-wearing wool qualities. Only the finest part of the wool has been used for the cushions.

The common design values and approach to craftsmanship and integrity of origin have made Fritz Hansen's collaboration with aiayu a manifestation of exceptional quality and skill while ensuring a contemporary approach to design. The cushions, which come in Oat, Anthracite and Blush hues, add an inviting, feminine element to Fritz Hansen's universe of timeless furniture, subtly softening and complementing the expression in a way that is at once natural and modern.

THE FEELING OF COMING HOME

The essence of the Objects collection is a series of home products that are visually and aesthetically nourishing to the senses. In addition to the new series, several of the products from the first collection are available again, including the fascinating mirror from Studio Roso and the award-nominated, shaker-inspired trays from Wednesday Architecture.

Also the Japanese-inspired Ikebana vase by Jaime Hayon is now accompanied by a mini Ikebana, offering yet another option for creating a uniquely sculptural, contemplative addition to any surface with just a few, simple flowers.

The new concepts and expressions broaden the platform from which we will continue the proud Fritz Hansen traditions of exquisite craftsmanship, quality, and timeless design - while inviting a broader and younger target group into our universe“.
