Recognised for his key role in pioneering design-led hospitality enterprises, Europe Hotels Private Collection‘s owner and founder Liran Wizman recently won two prestigious awards for his W Amsterdam and Mr. Porter restaurant from leading Dutch hospitality magazine Entrée Magazine.

These awards are the culmination of a five-year journey in which Mr. Wizman, through his EHPC brand and F&B partner Yossi Eliyahoo, The Entourage Group, played a key role in the transformation of Amsterdam into a luxury travel destination with an international food scene.

We are extremely honoured to be recognised by the Entrée Hospitality and Style Award with these two awards. These further validate our brand's willingness to push the boundaries of luxury hospitality and ensure an all-immersive lifestyle experience that melds service and culinary excellence with a unique design element,” stated Wizman.

Mr. Wizman's extensive background in hotel management and his ownership of over 60 European hotels has led him to the creation of two new design-led brands: the SIR Hotels and the Max Brown Hotels. The luxury lifestyle SIR brand draws its inspiration from a local, fictional personality, establishing an authentic, individual voice that is translated into the Hotel's design, service and amenities. The urban “Poshtel” brand Max Brown Hotels melds an affordable boutique concept with urban, contemporary lifestyle.

2016 was the group's strongest year to date with the completion of the W Amsterdam project in collaboration with Starwood, the opening of the SIR Savigny in Berlin, the second SIR to open after the Amsterdam landmark SIR Albert Hotel opened in 2013, and two Max Brown hotels in Dusseldorf and Berlin. 2017 continues this trend with three new SIR hotel openings planned for the first six months of the year: SIR Nikolai in Hamburg, the SIR Adam in Amsterdam and the SIR Joan in Ibiza.

The W Amsterdam project and its restaurant Mr. Porter, designed by Baranowitz + Kronenberg, the award winning architects, started with the purchase of two iconic central Amsterdam buildings: the former Telephone Exchange and the Kas Bank building on Dam Square. For this project, Mr. Wizman's long-term collaborators Baranowitz + Kronenberg developed a unique “connect and exchange” design concept.

A visual reflection of a dialogue between the past and the present, the Hotel's design is mindful of the properties’ heritage, yet projected towards the contemporary, edgy essence of the city. W Amsterdam is a city within a city where both locals and guests can experience Amsterdam at its best.

Paying indeed homage to the city, amenities include art-fashion-design concept store X Bank, which celebrates local Dutch talent, a rooftop WET DECK boasting views of central Amsterdam, the high-end yet casual burger bar offering all-day haute fast food called The BUTCHER and soon the night club Mad FOX.

The most recent addition to W Amsterdam‘s lifestyle amenities, located in a former bank vault, is the AWAY Spa. An innovative, luxurious interpretation of a traditional spa, the AWAY Spa provides guests with a sanctuary of refined tranquility amid the bustling city center. Characterised by a dimmed lighting scene and an overall black and gold colour theme, this was designed using materials like rocky basalt stone, brass and oak wood. These are evocative of the feeling generated by the former use of the space - a mysterious, alluring vault where people used to conceal and cherish their precious valuables.

Also re-designed as part of the W Amsterdam‘s recently added lifestyle amenities is award-winner Mr. Porter restaurant, a modern sophisticated steakhouse, located in the Exchange building, blending private intimate settings with panoramic city views.
