Atrium Champagne London, design by Foster + Partners. "Best Bar" winner at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2013

The Atrium Champagne is included in the project carried out by Foster + Partners to design ME Hotel in London, that belongs to the hotel chain Melia Group. Atrium Champagne won the top award for “Best Bar” and the award in the category “Restaurant or Bar in a Hotel” at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards 2013.

About the ME Hotel project, Foster + Partners explains,

The practice designed every aspect of the hotel, from the building to individual bathroom fittings - this synthesis of vision and detail has allowed the bold geometry of the structure to be exploited to dramatic spatial effect. The bold palette gives the hotel a strong visual identity, while allowing the freedom to explore variations in scale, texture and materials to define the character of each space.

The experience draws on the idea of yin and yang, as guests move from dark to light areas - the crisp white bedrooms are reached by black marble corridors, sculpted by the inclined walls of the dramatic central pyramid. The rooms were extensively prototyped, and the design team analysed every detail to ensure that every guest's stay would be comfortable and memorable.
