BCN Design Week is back, from 11 to 21 June, the annual meeting in the sphere of design and companies organized by BCD Barcelona Design Centre, an international event which brings together professionals, companies and organizations from any sector which have knowledge and creativity as their driving force. Business meetings, conferences, workshops networking, exhibitions and presentations form the contents of an event which this year has the Netherlands as its guest.

Feria Habitat Valencia powers up, exploiting synergies with Cevisama and Fimma-Maderalia trade fairs
Feria Hábitat Valencia has already drawn up the master plan for its next edition, which takes place from 11th to 14th February 2014. One of the major new features of the show is that it will be running at the same time as the two other major Spanish trade fairs related to interiors: Cevisama and Fimma – Maderalia. The leading fair for ‘made in Spain’ interiors will be located on Level 1 at Feria Valencia, with exhibits segmented by style and the kitchen section again staged by SICI.

The Spanish furniture arrives in Milan. 117 habitat companies are present at iSaloni
During this week, the Spanish sector of habitat show their new collections at the Milan Design Week, whose main attraction iSaloni, the international fair for design excellence. With the support of ICEX, 65 furniture companies will be present at the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (see exhibitors), 48 lighting companies in Euroluce (see exhibitors) and 4 office furniture companies at the Salone Ufficio (see exhibitors).

The new furniture and DIY megastore, Teyoland, will offer the best product and design “Made in Spain”
Teyoland open its first store in May 2013 at Valencia (Spain), in Hall 7 of Feria Valencia, and expects a million visitors a year and sales of 40 million euros. Ignacio Tello, Teyoland CEO, stated in the media presentation, which will create 300 direct jobs. Meanwhile, Francesc Rife, creative director of the brand, has confirmed that 95% of suppliers are Spanish manufacturers.

TELL ME: An advanced learning system will allow manufacturing companies to train workers right at their workplaces
The Furniture, Wood and Packaging Technology Institute, AIDIMA, is participating in the European project “Technology Enhanced Learning Livinglab for Manufacturing Environments”, TELL ME, with the ambitious goal to promote an assistance system for blue collar workers belonging to European SME’s that will allow them to obtain training and gain access to assembly plans, documents, or any other piece of information needed in order to perform their jobs accurately. All this will be possible thanks to augmented reality technologies through wireless devices and consequently, leaving their “hands free”.
