Each year, the ICFF convenes the industry’s top editors and invites them to scout the floor of the Javits Center, then choose the best of the best of the year’s design crop. This year, among the selected, include the Spanish design companies Marset (Lighting Category) and Capdell (Seating Category).

The International Association of Lighting Designers, IALD, has announced the winners of 30th Annual IALD International Lighting Design Awards. Ten award winners representing architectural lighting design projects from nine countries. The award ceremony took place on April 24, in the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia (USA).

The winner of the Frame Mooi Award 2013, which was unveiled during Milan Design Week, has been given to the furniture serie Impulsive Furnishing Unit, created by Christian Fiebig / Itay Ohaly / Thomas Vailly to furnish the lounge area of the C-Fabriek exhibition at Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven.

Andreu World, a Spanish contemporary design manufacturer of furniture and art, with over 55 years experience, has been awarded a prize “Red Dot” Good Design 2013 product. The Flexa chair collection, designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, has been selected by a professional jury composed of 37 members, among 4,600 products that competed in different categories.
Share this:Toyo Ito of Japan is the 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize Laureate
Toyo Ito, a 71 year old architect whose architectural practice is based in Tokyo, Japan, will be the recipient of the 2013 Pritzker Architecture Prize. It was announced today by Thomas J. Pritzker, chairman of The Hyatt Foundation which sponsors the prize. Ito is the sixth Japanese architect to become a Pritzker Laureate – the first five being the late Kenzo Tange in 1987, Fumihiko Maki in 1993, Tadao Ando in 1995, and the team of Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa in 2010.
